Migrate Your WhatsApp Conversations

Step-by-step guide to moving your WhatsApp Business conversations and contacts from Acquire to a new platform.

Moving WhatsApp Business from Acquire

Acquire connects to WhatsApp through Twilio as an intermediary — not via Meta's direct embedded signup. You'll need your Twilio Account SID, Auth Token, and WhatsApp-enabled phone number to understand your current setup before migrating.

Step 1: Understand Your Current Setup

Acquire's WhatsApp integration requires a Twilio account with a purchased phone number approved for WhatsApp access. Acquire connects via Twilio's Account SID, Auth Token, and a webhook URL configured in Twilio's WhatsApp Sender settings. Your WhatsApp Business profile, verified status, and phone number are tied to your Twilio account and Meta Business Manager — not to Acquire.

Step 2: Update Twilio Webhook URLs

In Twilio, go to Programmable SMS > WhatsApp > Senders and click Configure next to your approved phone number. The "A Message Comes In" and "Status Callback URL" fields currently point to Acquire's webhook endpoints. You'll need to update these to your new platform's webhook URL. Alternatively, disconnect from Twilio entirely and connect WhatsApp through your new platform's native OAuth flow (if supported).

Step 3: Consider Switching BSP

Since Acquire routes WhatsApp through Twilio, you're paying Twilio's conversation-based WhatsApp pricing on top of Acquire's platform fees. If your new platform supports direct WhatsApp Cloud API connection (via Meta's embedded signup), you can bypass Twilio entirely — eliminating the middleman and simplifying your setup. You may need to migrate your phone number from Twilio's BSP to Meta's direct hosting.

Step 4: Connect to Your New Platform

Once Twilio webhooks are redirected or disconnected, connect WhatsApp to your new platform using its native setup flow. Your WhatsApp Business verified status and message templates carry over — they're stored in Meta's system, not in Acquire or Twilio. Send a test message to confirm routing works correctly.

Important: Acquire's own help center currently shows a warning on the WhatsApp integration page: "We are receiving reports that this app does not integrate as expected." If you've been experiencing WhatsApp issues in Acquire, migration may resolve ongoing reliability problems. Plan the switchover during low-traffic hours to minimize any gap in message routing.
