Migrate Your Email Support
Part of the Acquire migration guide
How to migrate your email support workflows, templates, and history from Acquire without losing data.
Migrating Email Support from Acquire
Email is only available on Acquire's Integrated Solution plan ($2,000/month + $45/agent). If you're on the Self-Service plan, you don't have email in Acquire — so there's nothing to migrate from this channel.
How Acquire Handles Email
On the Integrated Solution tier, Acquire treats email as one of its messaging channels alongside chat, SMS, and social integrations. Email conversations appear in the same agent workspace as live chat messages. Acquire also supports VoIP for calls and SMS — these are configured through Settings with specific VoIP setup for outbound calling and SMS messaging. Check Acquire's help article on VoIP and SMS setup for your current configuration details.
Step 1: Document Your Email Configuration
Before switching, note which email addresses are connected to Acquire, any email-specific workflow rules you've configured in Settings > Workflow > Business Rules, and email routing rules that direct messages to specific departments. Also record any Shortcuts (canned responses) that are specifically formatted for email replies.
Step 2: Set Up Email on Your New Platform
Your new platform will have its own email connection method — typically email forwarding, SMTP/IMAP connection, or OAuth integration with Gmail/Outlook. Update your email forwarding rules or DNS records to point to the new platform instead of Acquire. If you used custom domain email through Acquire, update your MX or forwarding records accordingly.
Step 3: Recreate Email Templates
Copy your most-used email Shortcuts from Settings > Conversation Settings > Shortcuts. Acquire Shortcuts support formatting, links, images, and webhooks — note which ones use advanced formatting so you can recreate them accurately. Map Acquire's shortcut trigger keys to your new platform's canned response system.
Note: If you're on Self-Service and never had email in Acquire, connecting email on your new platform is a net gain — you'll have a channel you didn't have before without paying the $1,500/month premium Acquire charges for it.
