Migrate All Messaging Channels
Part of the Acquire migration guide
Complete guide to migrating all your messaging channels (WhatsApp, Telegram, Messenger, etc.) from Acquire.
Migrating All Channels from Acquire
Acquire's App Store offers integrations for WhatsApp (via Twilio), Telegram, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, LINE, Viber, WeChat, Twitter, email, and SMS. However, several of these integrations currently have reliability warnings in Acquire's own help center.
Chat Widget
Acquire's chat widget is installed via a JavaScript snippet in your website's <head> tag (found at Settings > Installation and Setup > Widget Code). It can also be installed via Google Tag Manager. To migrate, remove the Acquire widget code from your site and replace it with your new platform's chat widget snippet. If you customized the widget with CSS, note those customizations — you'll need to recreate them.
Social Channels (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter)
These connect via OAuth through Acquire's App Store. Go to the App Store, click the three dots on each integration tile, and select Uninstall. Then connect the same Facebook Page, Instagram account, or Twitter handle to your new platform. Note: Acquire's help docs currently warn that Facebook and Instagram integrations "do not integrate as expected" — if you've had issues, your new platform may provide more reliable connections.
Messaging Apps (Telegram, WhatsApp, Viber, LINE, WeChat)
Telegram connects via bot token from BotFather — generate a new token or reuse the existing one in your new platform. WhatsApp routes through Twilio — update webhook URLs in Twilio or switch to a platform with direct Meta Cloud API support. Viber, LINE, and WeChat connect through their respective developer consoles. Acquire's Telegram integration page also carries a warning about potential issues.
Channels Acquire Doesn't Support
Acquire has no native integration for Discord or Zalo. If your customers use these platforms, switching to a platform with native support opens new communication channels your team couldn't access before. Discord is widely used in gaming, crypto, and developer communities. Zalo dominates messaging in Vietnam with over 70 million users.
Migration Order
Start with your lowest-volume channel to test the setup, then work toward higher-traffic channels. Since several Acquire integrations have known reliability issues, you may find that some channels work more consistently on your new platform from day one. Migrate the chat widget last since it's the most visible customer-facing change.
Note: Acquire's video calling, cobrowsing, and screen sharing features are unique to the platform and won't transfer to a messaging-focused tool. If these are critical to your support workflow, plan for alternative approaches (screen-sharing links via Zoom, Google Meet, etc.) before disconnecting Acquire.
