Moving WhatsApp Business from JivoChat

JivoChat's WhatsApp integration is available only on the Professional plan ($42/agent/mo) and costs an additional $25/month. It connects through Meta's WhatsApp Cloud API using an embedded signup flow. Your phone number and WhatsApp Business Account belong to your Meta Business Manager — not JivoChat — so they survive the switch.

Step 1: Review Your WhatsApp Setup in JivoChat

In the JivoChat agent app, go to Manage → Channels and locate your WhatsApp channel. Note which phone number is connected and which Meta Business Account it's linked to. JivoChat uses the WhatsApp Cloud API with Meta's embedded signup — the connection was authorized through your Facebook login during initial setup. Verify you still have admin access to the Meta Business Account at business.facebook.com.

Step 2: Document Template Messages

If you sent WhatsApp template messages or ran WhatsApp campaigns through JivoChat, note your approved template names and content. Templates are stored in Meta's system and remain available after switching platforms. However, you'll need to configure your new platform to reference the same template names and parameters. JivoChat requires a payment method linked to your Meta account for outgoing template messages — verify this is set up correctly in Meta before the switch.

Step 3: Disconnect from JivoChat

Remove the WhatsApp channel from JivoChat through Manage → Channels. Alternatively, disconnect via Meta's WhatsApp Manager at business.facebook.com/wa/manage by removing JivoChat's webhook access from the phone number. If the number was previously used with another WhatsApp account or BSP before JivoChat, contact JivoChat support to confirm the number is fully released. Allow a few minutes for the disconnection to propagate through Meta's systems.

Step 4: Connect to Your New Platform

Use your new platform's WhatsApp OAuth flow to reconnect the same phone number. Your verified business status, display name, and profile picture carry over — they're stored in Meta's system. The reconnection typically takes 2-5 minutes once the number is released from JivoChat.

Cost Savings on WhatsApp

JivoChat charges a flat $25/month add-on for WhatsApp access on top of per-agent fees. If WhatsApp is a key channel for your business, switching to a platform that includes WhatsApp in its base price eliminates this recurring charge entirely. Meta's own per-conversation costs still apply regardless of which platform you use.

Important: Plan the switchover during low-traffic hours. There's typically a brief gap (minutes to a few hours) between disconnecting from JivoChat and connecting to your new platform where incoming WhatsApp messages won't be routed to any inbox.
