Moving WhatsApp Business from Hiver

Hiver's WhatsApp integration is available only on the Pro plan ($65/user/month annual) and above. It connects through Meta's embedded signup flow via the WhatsApp Business Platform. Your phone number and WhatsApp Business Account are tied to your Meta Business Manager — not to Hiver — so they survive the switch.

Step 1: Review Prerequisites in Hiver

Hiver's WhatsApp setup requires a Facebook Business Account, a suitable phone number registered with WhatsApp, and access to your Facebook Developer Account. Before migrating, verify you still have admin access to your Meta Business Manager at business.facebook.com. Check Hiver's help article on Facebook prerequisites for WhatsApp setup to confirm which Meta assets are linked. Note: Hiver's WhatsApp is reply-only — you can receive customer conversations and reply from your shared inbox, but cannot initiate outbound conversations (only pre-approved template messages are supported via WhatsApp Manager).

Step 2: Save Your WhatsApp Templates

If you use pre-approved WhatsApp template messages (created in WhatsApp Manager and approved by Meta's review team), document all active templates. These templates are stored in Meta's system and remain available after switching platforms. However, you'll need to configure your new platform to reference the same template names and parameters. Log into WhatsApp Manager and screenshot or export your template library before proceeding.

Step 3: Disconnect WhatsApp from Hiver

In Hiver, navigate to your WhatsApp channel settings and remove the integration. Alternatively, in Meta Business Manager → WhatsApp Manager → Phone numbers, find the number connected to Hiver and remove the webhook routing. Your verified business status, display name, and profile information stay intact — they're stored in Meta's system, not in Hiver. Allow a few minutes for the disconnection to propagate through Meta's servers.

Step 4: Connect to Your New Platform

Use your new platform's WhatsApp OAuth flow to reconnect the same phone number. The process typically takes 2–5 minutes. Your verified business status, display name, and profile carry over automatically since they're stored in Meta's system. If two-factor authentication is enabled on the WhatsApp Business Account, you may need to handle verification during the reconnection.

Downgrade Opportunity

If WhatsApp was the primary reason your team was on Hiver's Pro plan ($65/user/month), migrating to a platform with WhatsApp included at a lower price eliminates a major cost driver. Teams that only needed email and live chat from Hiver but had to upgrade for WhatsApp can now get all channels without per-feature gating.

Important: Plan the switchover during low-traffic hours. There's a brief gap (typically minutes, sometimes up to a few hours) between disconnecting from Hiver and connecting to your new platform where incoming WhatsApp messages won't be routed to any inbox. Inform your team to check WhatsApp Manager directly during this window if critical messages arrive.
