Migrate All Messaging Channels
Part of the Kayako migration guide
Complete guide to migrating all your messaging channels (WhatsApp, Telegram, Messenger, etc.) from Kayako.
Migrating All Channels from Kayako
Kayako natively supports two communication channels: email and live chat (via the Kayako Messenger widget). It does not offer native integrations for WhatsApp, Telegram, Instagram, Messenger, Discord, or Zalo. This limited channel footprint means migration is primarily about replacing the chat widget and redirecting email.
Live Chat Widget (Kayako Messenger)
Kayako Messenger is embedded on your website via a JavaScript snippet added to your HTML. To migrate, locate and remove the Kayako Messenger embed code from your website's header or footer. If you added it via a WordPress plugin (Kayako WordPress plugin), uninstall the plugin from your WordPress admin panel. Replace it with your new platform's chat widget code — most modern widgets install via a single script tag or CMS plugin.
Email Channel
Redirect your email forwarding from Kayako's address to your new platform's inbound address. If you used multiple support email addresses in Kayako (for different departments or teams), set up equivalent routing in your new platform. See the email migration guide for step-by-step instructions.
Channels Kayako Doesn't Support
If you've been using third-party tools to connect WhatsApp, Telegram, or social media to Kayako, switching to a platform with native support for these channels simplifies your stack significantly. Instead of managing Kayako + Integrately + WhatsApp API separately, you connect each channel directly to one inbox. This eliminates automation breakpoints and reduces monthly tooling costs.
New Channel Opportunities
Migrating from Kayako is an opportunity to expand your channel coverage. If you serve customers in Southeast Asia (Zalo), gaming or crypto communities (Discord), or global markets (Telegram), a platform with native support for these channels opens communication paths that Kayako couldn't provide — even with third-party integrations.
Migration Order
Since Kayako only has two native channels, migration is simpler than switching from platforms with many integrations. Start with email (redirect forwarding), then swap the chat widget. Add new channels (WhatsApp, Telegram, Messenger, etc.) once your team is comfortable with the new platform. Each channel connection typically takes 2-5 minutes.
