Migrate All Messaging Channels
Part of the Gorgias migration guide
Complete guide to migrating all your messaging channels (WhatsApp, Telegram, Messenger, etc.) from Gorgias.
Migrating All Channels from Gorgias
Gorgias natively supports email, live chat, Facebook Messenger, Instagram DMs, WhatsApp, SMS, and Voice (phone). It does not have native Telegram, Discord, or Zalo support. Each channel connects differently and requires a separate migration step.
Social Channels (Facebook Messenger, Instagram)
Gorgias connects Facebook and Instagram via Meta OAuth through Settings > App Store. Disconnect the integration from Gorgias, then connect the same Facebook Pages and Instagram Business accounts to your new platform using OAuth. Your page followers, message history on Meta's side, and business verification all remain intact. Reconnection takes 2-3 minutes per page.
Live Chat Widget
Gorgias provides an embeddable chat widget for your website. When switching, you'll need to remove the Gorgias chat widget script from your site and replace it with your new platform's widget code. If you installed the Gorgias widget through a Shopify app, uninstall the app and install your new platform's equivalent. The Gorgias widget configuration (colors, welcome messages, automated flows) won't transfer — recreate these in your new platform.
SMS and Voice
Gorgias SMS and Voice are add-on features powered by Twilio. If you use Gorgias-hosted phone numbers, you'll need to port them to your new provider (submit a porting request to the new provider; Gorgias approves on their end). If you brought your own numbers, simply disconnect from Gorgias and connect to your new platform. Voice features require a separate add-on purchase in Gorgias and may not have a direct equivalent in messaging-focused platforms.
Channels Gorgias Doesn't Support
If your customers use Telegram, Discord, or Zalo, Gorgias doesn't have native integrations for these platforms. Switching to a platform with native support for these channels means gaining coverage you didn't have before — no migration needed for channels that weren't connected. This is particularly relevant for businesses with customers in Southeast Asia (Zalo), gaming/crypto communities (Discord), or international markets (Telegram).
Migration Order
Start with your lowest-volume channel to test the new platform with minimal risk. For most Gorgias users, that's social media channels (Facebook/Instagram), followed by WhatsApp, then email. Leave your highest-volume channel (often the chat widget) for last, after your team is comfortable with the new interface. Migrate channels one at a time over 2-5 days.
Important: Gorgias ecommerce integrations (Shopify order sidebar, BigCommerce, Magento) are not messaging channels — they're data overlays. Your new platform won't replicate the in-ticket order management panel, but you can still access these platforms directly. Factor this workflow change into your team training plan.
