Moving WhatsApp Business from Trengo

Trengo is an official WhatsApp Business Solution Provider (BSP). When you set up WhatsApp through Trengo, you used their embedded signup flow, which registers Trengo as your BSP with Meta. Your phone number, verified status, and message templates are stored in your Meta Business Manager — not in Trengo — so they survive the migration.

Step 1: Check Your WhatsApp Configuration

In Trengo, navigate to Settings > WhatsApp Business to view your connected phone numbers. Note which numbers are active, the linked Meta Business Manager account, and whether you verified your Facebook Business Account (required within 30 days of initial setup). If your account is still in the "Trial" phase of WhatsApp Business API, verify it through Meta before migrating to avoid complications.

Step 2: Release the Number from Trengo's BSP

Since Trengo acts as your BSP, you need to release the phone number from their system before connecting it elsewhere. Contact Trengo support or use the WhatsApp Business settings to disconnect the number. In your Meta Business Manager, go to WhatsApp Manager and verify that Trengo's BSP association is removed. Your number's verified status and display name remain intact — they belong to your Meta Business account.

Step 3: Connect to Your New Platform

Use your new platform's WhatsApp OAuth flow to reconnect the same phone number. The embedded signup process links your existing Meta Business account and WhatsApp Business Account (WABA) to the new platform. Your green checkmark verification, display name, and approved message templates all carry over. The reconnection typically takes 5-10 minutes.

Step 4: Recreate WhatsApp Workflows

If you used Trengo's Flowbot to automate WhatsApp conversations (e.g., greeting flows, FAQ routing, order status lookups), you'll need to recreate those workflows in your new platform using its automation tools. Copy the text content from your Flowbot steps before disconnecting. Also recreate any WhatsApp-specific automation rules you configured in Settings > Automation > Rules.

Important: Once you disconnect your number from Trengo's BSP, incoming WhatsApp messages won't route to any inbox until you reconnect to a new platform. Plan this switch during your lowest-traffic window. Also note that connecting a number to the WhatsApp Business API means it can no longer be used with the regular WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business App — this restriction is set by Meta, not by any particular platform.
