Export Your Data
Part of the Trengo migration guide
Learn how to export your customer data, conversation history, and contacts from Trengo before migrating to a new platform.
How to Export Your Data from Trengo
Trengo has no native bulk data export tool for contacts or conversations. Individual conversations can be downloaded as PDF files, and report data can be exported as CSV — but there is no one-click "export everything" option.
Download Individual Conversations (PDF)
Open any conversation in Trengo, click the three-dot menu icon in the upper right corner, and select Download. Trengo saves the conversation as a PDF file to your computer. This includes the full message thread but must be done one conversation at a time — there is no bulk conversation export feature. For teams with thousands of conversations, this approach is impractical for a full archive.
Export Report Data (CSV)
Navigate to Reports > Export in the Trengo dashboard. You can filter by channels, users, labels, CSAT scores, and custom time ranges. Click Add field to select which data columns to include (ticket number, created date, channel name, assigned user, labels, etc.), then click Start export. The result is a CSV file with one row per conversation — useful for analytics but it does not include the actual message content of conversations.
Contacts: No Bulk Export
Trengo supports bulk importing contacts via CSV, but there is no corresponding bulk export feature for contacts. You can view contacts under the Contacts section in the left sidebar and edit them individually. To extract contact data at scale, you need the Trengo REST API — which is only available on the Pro plan (€499/mo) and above. The Boost plan has no API access at all.
API Export (Pro Plan Only)
Trengo's REST API lets you programmatically retrieve contacts, conversations, and ticket data. However, API access is restricted to the Pro plan and above. If you're on the Boost plan, you have no API access — meaning you cannot script a bulk data export. Upgrading to Pro solely for migration purposes costs an additional €200/month over Boost.
Third-Party Migration Tools
Services like Help Desk Migration and TicketTakeout offer automated Trengo data extraction for a fee. These tools connect to Trengo's API and export conversations, contacts, and attachments in structured formats (CSV, JSON). If you need a complete data archive and don't have Pro plan API access, a third-party tool may be your only practical option.
Tip: Start the export process early. Since Trengo lacks a bulk export button, extracting your data — especially conversation histories — takes more effort than with other platforms. Document your Flowbot flows, automation rules, and quick reply templates by screenshotting or copying them manually before canceling your account.
