Complete guide to migrating all your messaging channels (WhatsApp, Telegram, Messenger, etc.) from Tidio.

Migrating All Channels from Tidio

Tidio natively supports live chat (website widget), WhatsApp (reply-only), Facebook Messenger, Instagram DMs, and email. It does not natively support Telegram, Discord, or Zalo on any plan. Here's how to migrate each channel.

Website Chat Widget

Tidio's chat widget is embedded via a JavaScript snippet or through native apps for Shopify, WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, and other platforms. To migrate: remove the Tidio widget code from your site. For Shopify, uninstall the Tidio app from your Shopify admin. For WordPress, deactivate the Tidio plugin. For other platforms, remove the <script> tag from your site's HTML header or footer. Then install your new platform's chat widget using their equivalent method (script tag, CMS plugin, or app store installation).

Facebook Messenger and Instagram DMs

Messenger and Instagram connect through Meta OAuth in Tidio's Settings > Channels section. To migrate: disconnect these channels from Tidio, then reconnect the same Facebook pages and Instagram accounts to your new platform using their OAuth flow. Your page followers, business verification, and settings remain intact — they're tied to your Meta Business account, not to Tidio. Each reconnection takes 2–3 minutes.

WhatsApp

WhatsApp requires a number transfer through Meta's WhatsApp Manager (see the dedicated WhatsApp migration guide). The key steps: disconnect the number from Tidio via Meta Business Manager, wait for propagation, then connect to your new platform. Plan this during low-traffic hours to minimize the gap between platforms.

Email

Tidio handles email through forwarding or Gmail OAuth. Update forwarding rules in your email provider to point to your new platform instead of Tidio. For Gmail OAuth connections, delete the integration in Tidio's Settings > Email and set up the new connection on your target platform. See the email migration guide for detailed steps.

Channels Tidio Doesn't Support

Tidio has no native integration for Telegram, Discord, or Zalo on any plan. If your customers use these platforms, switching to a platform with native support opens new communication channels without third-party workarounds. Telegram connects via a bot token (2 minutes to set up), Discord via a bot token and app ID, and Zalo via OAuth with PKCE flow. These are net-new channels you gain by switching, not channels you need to migrate.

Migration order: Start with your lowest-volume channel to validate the setup. Migrate the website chat widget and Messenger first (low risk, quick reconnection). Save WhatsApp and email for last — they carry the most traffic and have the highest impact if something goes wrong during the switch.
