Export Your Data

Learn how to export your customer data, conversation history, and contacts from LiveAgent before migrating to a new platform.

How to Export Your Data from LiveAgent

LiveAgent offers CSV export for contacts directly from the agent panel, API-based ticket export via REST API v3, and a full database dump on request for paying customers who are leaving. There is no single "export everything" button — you'll use different methods depending on the data type.

Export Contacts (CSV)

Navigate to Customers → Contacts in the LiveAgent agent panel. From here you can export your contact list directly as a CSV file. This includes customer names, email addresses, phone numbers, and custom fields you've collected. You can also use the REST API to export contacts programmatically if you need more control over the data format or need to filter by specific criteria like contact groups.

Export Tickets via API v3

LiveAgent's REST API v3 provides paginated ticket export. Use the endpoint https://youraccount.ladesk.com/api/v3/tickets with date range filters to retrieve tickets in batches of 10 per page. You'll need to create an API key with read permissions in Configuration → System → API. Filter by date_created to process tickets day by day. When a page returns fewer than 10 results, move to the next date range. The API v1 and v3 references are available in LiveAgent's support documentation. Note that API rate limits apply — check LiveAgent's rate limit documentation before planning large exports.

Request a Database Dump

For paying customers leaving LiveAgent, a full database dump is available on request. Contact [email protected] from your account owner email address specifying exactly what data you need. LiveAgent stores data in SQL databases with file attachments in AWS S3. The DB dump contains raw database data, and S3 files are shared as a folder structure. You can receive the dump via SSH/SCP (LiveAgent provides a public key) or via a Google Drive download link. LiveAgent retains data in the main database for 7 days, after which it moves to S3 archival storage.

Document Automation Rules and Templates

LiveAgent's automation rules, SLA configurations, canned messages, and department settings cannot be bulk-exported. Before switching, manually document: your Configuration → Automation → Rules (triggers, conditions, actions), your Canned messages (predefined responses), and your department structure with routing assignments. Screenshot each rule or copy the settings — you'll recreate these as quick replies, auto-reply rules, and auto-routing configurations on your new platform.

Export Knowledge Base Articles

If you've built a knowledge base in LiveAgent, there's no native bulk export. Copy article content manually or use the REST API to retrieve articles programmatically. Save the content for repurposing as FAQ entries in your new chat widget or as reference material for AI reply suggestions.

Tip: LiveAgent also offers migration plugins for importing data into LiveAgent from other platforms. However, for exporting out of LiveAgent, the API + CSV approach is the primary method. Plan your export during low-traffic hours to avoid rate limit issues on the API.
