Step-by-step guide to moving your WhatsApp Business conversations and contacts from Front to a new platform.

Moving WhatsApp Business from Front

WhatsApp in Front is a paid add-on available only on Professional and Enterprise plans. It uses Meta's embedded signup flow, meaning your WhatsApp Business phone number and verified status are tied to your Meta Business Manager account — not to Front — so they survive the switch.

Step 1: Understand Your Current Setup

In Front, go to your workspace or company settings, click Channels, and find your WhatsApp channel. Note which phone number is connected, the associated Meta Business Manager account, and whether you used Front's embedded signup (meaning Front is registered as your BSP with Meta). Also check if you have approved WhatsApp message templates — these are stored in Meta's system and will remain available after disconnecting from Front.

Step 2: Disconnect from Front

Remove the WhatsApp channel from your Front workspace under Channels settings. If Front is your BSP, you may need to release the phone number from Front's BSP registration in Meta Business Manager first. Go to Meta Business Manager → WhatsApp Manager → Phone numbers, and disable two-step verification if enabled, then release the number. Your verified business status and display name remain intact — they're tied to your Meta account.

Step 3: Connect to Your New Platform

Use your new platform's WhatsApp OAuth flow to reconnect the same phone number. The process typically takes 2-5 minutes. Your green checkmark verification, business display name, and approved message templates all carry over since they're stored in Meta's system. Send a test message to confirm messages route correctly.

Step 4: Recreate WhatsApp Workflows

If you used Front's automation rules to auto-reply with WhatsApp templates or route WhatsApp conversations to specific inboxes, recreate these workflows in your new platform. Note that Front's WhatsApp variable mappings (like recipient.name and recipient.phone) will need to be mapped to your new platform's variable format. WhatsApp's 24-hour reply window rule still applies regardless of which platform you use.

Important: Front charges Meta-billed WhatsApp costs plus a 20% administrative fee on top. When you switch, you'll pay Meta's WhatsApp pricing directly through your new platform, potentially saving that 20% markup. Plan the switchover during low-traffic hours — there's a brief gap between disconnecting from Front and connecting to the new platform where incoming WhatsApp messages won't be routed.
