Intercom Pricing: What You Actually Pay
Intercom's pricing is structured around three tiers — Essential, Advanced, and Expert — all charged per seat per month. The advertised prices require annual billing commitments. On top of base seat costs, Fin AI resolutions, AI Copilot, and Proactive Support are separate add-ons that can more than double your effective per-agent cost.
Three Tiers, All Per-Seat
Essential: $29/seat/mo (annual) or $39/seat/mo (monthly). Includes shared inbox, basic Fin AI Agent, help center, and basic reports. Advanced: $85/seat/mo (annual) or $99/seat/mo (monthly). Adds multiple team inboxes, automation workflows, round-robin assignment, multilingual help center, and 20 free Lite seats. Expert: $132/seat/mo (annual) or $139/seat/mo (monthly). Adds SSO/HIPAA compliance, SLA management, multi-brand help center, custom roles, and 50 free Lite seats. Monthly billing costs 15–35% more than annual across all tiers.
Fin AI Add-On Costs
Fin AI Agent is included on all plans but charges $0.99 per resolution. A "resolution" is counted when Fin autonomously resolves a customer query without human intervention. 500 resolutions/month = $495/month. 1,000 resolutions = $990/month. There's no cap — costs scale linearly with AI usage volume. Fin AI Copilot (agent assistance with reply suggestions, ticket summaries, and tone adjustment) costs an additional $29/agent/month. Both charges stack on top of your base seat cost.
Proactive Support Plus
Targeted outbound messaging campaigns — push notifications, in-app messages, and email sequences — require the Proactive Support Plus add-on at $99/month. This is a flat fee per workspace, not per seat, but it's still on top of everything else. Without it, outbound messaging capabilities are limited to basic in-app messages.
Real Cost Scenarios
A 5-agent team on Advanced (annual) base only: $85 × 5 = $425/month. With Fin AI (500 resolutions/month): $425 + $495 = $920/month. With Copilot added: $920 + ($29 × 5) = $1,065/month. With Proactive Support: $1,065 + $99 = $1,164/month. A 10-agent team on Advanced with Fin + Copilot: ($85 × 10) + $495 + ($29 × 10) = $1,635/month. Converge is $49/month flat for up to 15 agents with AI suggestions included — saving a 5-agent team $9,792–$13,380/year depending on add-ons.
