Complete guide to migrating all your messaging channels (WhatsApp, Telegram, Messenger, etc.) from Freshchat.

Migrating All Messaging Channels from Freshchat

Freshchat supports website chat, email, Facebook Messenger, Instagram DM, WhatsApp, Line, SMS, and Google Business Messages. Converge supports WhatsApp, Telegram, Messenger, Instagram, Discord, Zalo, Gmail, and custom email.

Channel Overlap and Differences

Both platforms support: WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, email, and website chat widgets. Freshchat has but Converge doesn't: Line, SMS, and Google Business Messages. Converge has but Freshchat doesn't: Telegram, Discord, and Zalo. If you rely on Line, SMS, or Google Business Messages, you'll need a separate tool for those channels after switching. If your customers use Telegram, Discord, or Zalo, Converge adds coverage Freshchat cannot provide.

Facebook Messenger & Instagram

In Freshchat, these connect via Meta OAuth under Settings > Messaging channels. Disconnect them from Freshchat, then reconnect through Converge using the same Facebook/Instagram business pages. The OAuth process takes 2-3 minutes per channel. Your page followers and message history on Meta's side are unaffected.

Website Chat Widget

Replace Freshchat's widget script tag on your website with Converge's widget script tag. If you installed Freshchat's widget via Google Tag Manager, update the GTM tag. Converge offers installation via script tag, Google Tag Manager (community template), and native plugins for Wix, Squarespace, Webflow, WooCommerce, and BigCommerce. Remove the old Freshchat widget code to avoid conflicts.

New Channel Opportunities

Switching to Converge gives you access to Telegram (bot token auth, takes 2 minutes), Discord (bot token + app ID), and Zalo (OAuth with PKCE or QR code login). If your customers are in Southeast Asia (Zalo), gaming/crypto communities (Discord), or use Telegram, these channels open new support pathways that Freshchat doesn't offer.

Recommended Migration Order

Start with your lowest-volume channel to test the connection. Then migrate email, followed by social channels (Messenger, Instagram), then WhatsApp last (since it's typically highest-volume and most critical). Add new channels (Telegram, Discord, Zalo) after your existing channels are stable.
