How to Export Company Data

Converge Converge Team

Learn how to export all your company data from Converge as a ZIP file.

1

Navigate to Data Export

In Converge, go to company settings and find the Data Export option. This lets you download a complete copy of all your workspace data.

Who can export data: Only workspace Owners can trigger a data export. This is a security measure to prevent unauthorized data extraction.

Why export data:

  • Compliance: GDPR, CCPA, and other regulations may require you to export customer data on request
  • Backup: Keep an offline copy of important conversations and customer information
  • Migration: Move your data to another platform if needed
  • Analysis: Analyze conversations in external tools

What's included: The export contains all your company data — conversations, messages, customer profiles, team information, tags, and settings. It's a comprehensive snapshot of your entire workspace.

2

Start the export

Click Export Data to begin the process. Converge will generate a ZIP file containing all your company data.

Processing time: Depending on how much data you have, exports can take anywhere from a few seconds to several minutes. You'll see a progress indicator showing the status.

Export cooldown: To prevent abuse, there's a cooldown period between exports. Plan your exports accordingly — you can't trigger multiple exports in quick succession.

Background processing: You don't need to keep the page open while the export is processing. Converge will notify you when the export is ready for download.

Retry handling: If an export fails (e.g., due to a server issue), the system will automatically retry. If it fails repeatedly, you'll be notified and can try again after the cooldown resets.

3

Download your export

Once the export is complete, you'll receive a notification with a download link.

Download format: The export is a ZIP file containing your workspace data. Download it and save it to a secure location.

Link expiration: The download link is valid for a limited time. After it expires, you'll need to request a new export.

Security: The export file contains sensitive customer data. Store it securely, don't share it publicly, and delete it when no longer needed. If your compliance policy requires encrypted storage, encrypt the ZIP file before archiving.

4

Understanding the exported data

The ZIP file contains a complete snapshot of your company's data in Converge.

Data included:

  • Conversations: All messages with timestamps, sender info, and platform
  • Customer profiles: Names, contact info, tags, lifecycle stages
  • Team data: Employee information, assignments, notes
  • Settings: Company configuration, platform connections, routing settings

Using the exported data:

  • Compliance requests: You can provide the relevant portion to satisfy a data subject access request
  • Migration: Use the data to import into another platform if needed
  • Backup archival: Store the ZIP as an offline backup of your support history

Success indicator: When you can download the ZIP file and verify that it contains your conversations, customer data, and team information, your export was successful.
