Migration Guide for E-commerce Teams
Part of the Crisp migration guide
How e-commerce support teams can migrate from Crisp while maintaining customer service quality.
E-commerce Migration from Crisp
Crisp has strong e-commerce integrations — native apps for Shopify and WooCommerce, Hugo AI for pre-sales automation, and a knowledge base for self-service. Migrating means replacing these integrations while maintaining customer support quality during the switch.
E-commerce Platform Integrations
Crisp offers native apps for Shopify (installed via the Shopify App Store) and WooCommerce (a WordPress plugin downloaded from the Crisp dashboard and uploaded via WordPress's plugin manager). These apps embed the chat widget and sync customer data. To migrate: uninstall the Crisp Shopify app or deactivate the WooCommerce plugin, then install your new platform's equivalent. If you use other e-commerce platforms (BigCommerce, Wix, Squarespace), you'll swap the JavaScript widget snippet directly.
Pre-Sales and Cart Abandonment
If you used Crisp's Triggers for cart abandonment messages, proactive chat invitations, or product page welcome messages, document each trigger's conditions and message text. These automated chatbox events need to be recreated as auto-reply rules or widget configuration on your new platform. Note that Crisp Triggers fire based on page URL, time on page, or visitor behavior — map these to equivalent conditions on your new platform.
Hugo AI for Product Questions
E-commerce teams often train Hugo AI on product FAQs, shipping policies, and return processes using their knowledge base or website scrapes. If Hugo handled a significant portion of pre-sales conversations, the shift to agent-assisted AI suggestions means agents will need to handle more conversations directly. Export your FAQ content and product documentation so you can use it to configure AI features or widget FAQ entries on your new platform.
Channel Priority for E-commerce
E-commerce customers typically reach out via website chat, Instagram DMs, WhatsApp, and Messenger. Migrate the website widget first (lowest risk — just swap the embed code). Then reconnect Instagram and Messenger via Meta OAuth. Save WhatsApp for last since it requires the Meta Business Manager transfer process. If you're expanding to markets where Zalo is popular (Vietnam), your new platform can add this channel that Crisp doesn't support.
Peak Season Timing
Don't migrate during Black Friday, Prime Day, or your busiest sales period. Plan the switch during a calm period — typically mid-January through February, or mid-summer. Give your team at least one full week of running both platforms in parallel before decommissioning Crisp.
Tip: If Crisp's Shopify or WooCommerce integration synced customer data (order history, customer tags), this data won't transfer automatically. Export what you need from Crisp's CRM before disconnecting.
